Job Description

Position Summary:

The Production Planner is responsible for material management, vendor management, process management, and cost management at the Supply Facility. This requires working collaboratively with other departments at the facility including Production & Shipping as well as, working with suppliers. The Production Planner reports directly to the General Manager of the facility with a dotted line report into the corporate VP of Procurement. The Production Planner is focused on supporting & optimizing operations via:

  1. Integrity & Professionalism
  2. Production Capability & Operations Support
  3. Inventory & Cost Management
  4. Continuous Improvement

Job Requirements

Essential Functions:

•         Work and communicate collaboratively with the rest of the facility leadership team & corporate

•         Facilitate a culture that is focused on team member experience, customer experience, & leadership

•         Count and order materials to meet the Supply Location production requirements

•         Produce daily production schedule to best utilize Supply Location assets

•         Maintain inventory accuracy and minimize inventory variances to meet production needs

•         Operate and order within the defined supply terms (lead time, minimum order quantity, delivery…)

•         Review backorders and address with suppliers

•         Review & collaborate on sales orders & production schedules to proactively address material needs, restraints & production capabilities

•         Comply with all corporate contracts & SOPs

•         Implement and abide by corporate policies and procedures

•         Performance of category deep dives to improve inventory turns and reduce shortages

•         Work with suppliers and other departments to eliminate waste & improve efficiency

•         Hold suppliers accountable to terms and performance standards

•         Vendor management and communication

•         Manage the Issue Resolution process

•         Collaborate with other departments to ensure:

o    Proper receipt & storage of inventory

o    Proper capture of pricing, terms, & incentives (such as cash discounts & rebates)

o    Timely payment to suppliers

o    Proper rotation of inventory (and FIFO)

o    Management and accounting for Damaged, Slow Moving, & Obsolete Material

o    Management and accounting for scrap materials and scrap material sales

o    An efficient facility layout

o    Data integrity & maintenance (including models, options, BOMs, and parts)

 

Qualifications:

•         Manufacturing Materials Management & Production Scheduling experience a HUGE plus!

•         Experience and commitment to Lean principles greatly desired Strong analytical & problem solving skills

•         Contract Management experience

•         Vendor Management experience

•         Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Excel)
