The Home Building Group is actively searching for a Part-Time Engineering Intern to join the team at our Waco II, TX facility.

Position Summary:

Provide engineering support to home building facilities. Assist the in house Engineer in producing engineering product (i.e. calculations, details, sections, specification, and guidance) which meet the architectural concept and applicable code requirements for the project.

Core Competencies Required:

  • Must have a minimum of one year of college, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Strong working or classroom knowledge of AutoCAD or similar AutoDesk product.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret building codes and architectural plans.
  • Proficient using programs such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) & Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Intermediate level computer skills.
  • Attitude which reflects a sense of urgency and a commitment to service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Assist in maintaining library of construction manuals.
  • Assist in preparing CAD details and drawings as necessary to maintain construction manuals and/or supplement architectural plan sets.
  • Perform code research and interpretation.
  • Review perspective new building products for code compliance.
  • Troubleshooting.
  • Be available to our home building facilities to communicate and provide assistance as needed.
  • Ensure that all work created is complete and accurate prior to distribution.
  • Able to manage priorities and projects based on assigned schedule and collaborate with facility team.
  • Assist in maintain thorough knowledge of current materials used by manufacturing.
  • Periodically follow homes during the construction process to obtain knowledge of the manufacturing processes and provide assistance to the production team.
