The Home Building Group is actively searching for a Head Receiver to join the team at our Middlebury, IN facility.


Working side-by-side their receiving team inthe warehouse to make sure all inbound material is received quickly and trackedthroughout the warehouse and production floor accurately. To do so, TheReceiving Lead owns and manages unloading trucks, counting/verifying/labelingmaterial, resolving discrepancies and controlling inventory by overseeing theput-away, transfer and cycle count processes.

  • Responsible for the direct oversight of the receiving department.
  • Reviews daily and weekly shipping schedules and production capabilities to assure all deadlines are met, checking running orders to determine schedule priorities.
  • Maintains safe working environment by ensuring staff wears required safety gear and follows safety protocols at all times.
  • Holds self and team fully accountable to getting all inbound material received quickly and tracked accurately.
  • Displays respect and dignity through team member communications promoting the company’s World Class cultural work environment.
  • Builds relationships to get to know team members and establishes an environment of trust with and between the teams.
  • Attentive to new hires, active in the onboarding training plan, ensures their proper development within the company culture and initiatives.
  • Demonstrates fairness and consistency in all TM decisions and action items.
  • Leads effective morning tailgate meetings by getting the team ready for the days run, reflecting and learning from prior days performance.
  • Ensures trucks are unloaded efficiently and manages labor to help with volume increases.
  • Directs staff to count, verify, and label all boxes correctly.
  • Communicates/updates management of daily problems and concerns, identifying areas needing attention to ensure the continuity of production.
  • Ensures data in system matches physical counts and ensures all receiving documentation filed properly.
  • Investigates the root cause of defects and scrap, implementing corrective action plans.
  • Works with material managers to resolve discrepancies when shipments do not match POs or when material arrives damaged.
  • Interacts with the quality control inspector to facilitate inbound sampling and specification testing.
  • Oversees put-away process to ensure material is stored efficiently and clustered by project.
  • Responds to phone calls quickly and follows up persistently until all issues are fully resolved in a timely manner.
  • Inventories and replenishes all receiving supplies.
  • Calibrates and maintains equipment on schedule.
  • Takes immediate action when expectations are not being met and gives recognition to high performers.
  • Takes pride in maintaining an exceptionally clean and organized warehouse.


  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Receiving/Warehouse experience required.
  • Forklift experience required, must be company certified in timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain a friendly, helpful, and positive attitude as an Ideal Team Player, hungry, humble and smart.
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions impacting the workplace, processes, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Must demonstrate effective motivation skills and techniques to build the team and process through Operational Excellence/Lean Initiatives improving the engagement to company culture.
  • Exhibits leadership qualities, first to come in and the last to leave; recognizing the value of all team members.
  • Ability to lift large and potentially heavy boxes as well as ability to work on feet for long periods of time.
  • Work requires periodic stooping/bending and frequent walking/standing throughout day as well as activities that require specific safety precautions, e.g. working around moving parts, machines, welders or vehicles.
  • Reliable transportation to get to work on time.
