The Home Building Group is actively searching for a Director of Human Resources to join the team in Maryville, TN.


 The Directorof Human Resources for Clayton Supply will be a strategic business partneroverseeing multiple leadership and administrative duties that stronglycontribute to the efficiency of the organization. The duties performed are inthe areas of benefit administration, employment practices, payroll, recruitingand staffing, and other HR areas as needed.



  • Consult and assist field operations in maintaining required staffing levels through an effective recruiting campaign utilizing social media, state employment agencies, career fairs, SHRM, and other avenues as needed.
  • Travel to field offices to assist in sourcing, screening and interviewing candidates.
  • Ensure completion of post-offer paperwork; I-9, W-4, Direct Deposit, and other company-required forms.
  • Manage benefit enrollment and be able to speak informatively on the company's current insurance offerings.
  • Research labor markets to ensure compensation and benefit competitiveness. Advise management on trends and make recommendations.


  • Partners with Corporate Human Resources to ensure that policies comply with Federal and State law, including AAP policy compliance.
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Coordinates and conducts management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance evaluations and harassment.
  • Advises the organization on appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs.
  • Coordinates performance review program to ensure effectiveness and compliance within the organization.
  • Interpret and communicate relevant information to Operations staff regarding Human Resources Policy and Procedures including Re-hire policy, Attendance policy, Termination policy, etc.
  • Makes recommendations to management on improvement to HR policies & procedures.


  • Administer Benefits - to include Insurance (medical, dental, life, etc.), FMLA, Short term disability, etc.
  • Coordinate all unemployment claims and represent the company at unemployment hearings.
  • Manage salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within the organization.


  • Maintains responsibility to ensure new hires have completed new hire requirements, including assigning team member numbers, benefits enrollment, etc.
  • Complete required payroll and/or time keeping reports and other reports including
  • Punch Detail reports, Daily Exception reports, etc. as required.
  • Participates and oversees payroll process, including Status changes as applicable.
  • Forward wage garnishments, loan information requests, and other documents/requests to the appropriate corporate staff.    
  • Generate attendance reports and Progressive Counseling forms to ensure proper tracking and administration of attendance policies.
  • Prepare team member separation notices and related documentation.


  • Maintain team member files including personnel, benefits, workers comp, medical, etc.
  • Attend staff and other meetings as necessary or when requested.
  • Maintain open communication with team members as required to perform all essential duties and functions. 
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or 8+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Multi-site manufacturing experience.
  • Must have the ability to travel to field offices to conduct job fairs, interviews, training, etc.
  • Ability to speak in front of and train large groups.    
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and standards applicable to the HR field.
  • Ability to deal effectively with applicants, team members, peers, and management staff.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
