The Home Building Group is actively searching for a Department Manager to join the team at our Hamilton, AL facility.

Position Summary

The Department Manager role will utilize a leadershipapproach in coaching team members to achieve plant objectives, exceed customerexpectations, and meet production demands.  The Department Manager will advance the plant’s vision of growing teammember careers while building a better life for our customers.  This role requires strong leadership in afast pace environment.

The ideal candidate:

  • Excellent attendance and willingness to work overtime if necessary
  • Plan and direct the department to achieve scheduled production
  • Maintain a high level of safety by resolving hazards immediately
  • Produce an outstanding product by maintaining quality that exceeds customer’s expectations
  • Recommend promotions, transfers, hiring or discharge of team members
  • Actively coach team members to effectively and efficiently complete tasks
  • Enforce policies consistently and fairly by seeking opportunities for feedback
  • Coach team members to ensure optimal safety, quality, and productivity standards
  • Full understanding of D.A.P.I.A. instructions and the ability to train the department
  • Ability to create a positive work environment through effective communication
  • Educate team members on standard operating procedures and practices
  • Maintain a high level of organization and housekeeping
  • Verify all team members have the proper tools and equipment for tasks
  • Manage the ISO 14001 standards for the department

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong leadership
  • Attention to detail
  • Good understanding of the home building process
  • Complete knowledge of D.A.P.I.A requirements for frame production
  • Knowledge of traveler, gateway, and BOSS quality systems
  • Ability to read and explain blueprints
  • Daily production schedule
  • High level of safety knowledge in a welding department

Experience Desired:

  • Managing a team of welders
  • Welding in a high production environment


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills using an iPad
  • Basic mathematical and measuring skills
