The Home Building Group is actively searching for a Cost Analyst to join the team at our Andersonville, TN facility.

Core Competencies and Job Requirements:

  • Three to five years of experience in costing in a manufacturing environment, preferred
  • Must have excellent mathematical skills

  • Knowledge of AS400 &/or Oracle preferred
  • Preferred Four-year degree in business related field

Position Summary:
The Cost Analyst will identify plant and cost department problems and will develop and implement improvement solutions. Cost Analyst will work with plant management to determine and resolve plant processes, take a leadership role on plant teams and will participate in plant and cost department projects. The Cost Analyst will have a thorough knowledge of cost systems and will perform analysis of cost data to prevent and resolve production and inventory issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

MAJOR OBJECTIVES

  • Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials for each model and each option produced in his/her Home Building facility.  This is accomplished by:
    o Prototyping of new models and options
    o Audits of existing models and options.
    o Category Audits/Cycle Counts
    o Like model comparisons.
  • Process Improvement
    o Lean Initiatives – Make sure they are getting done and reported. 
    o Champion Cost saving implementations and follow up
    o Tracking and reporting progress on improvements

DAILY DUTIES

  1. Print the Daily Production Report, distribute, and review for margin irregularities.
  2. Monitor the Engineering Change Request (ECR) and respond to all necessary ECR's Immediately.  This will include providing cost impact to the ECN, if necessary.
  3. Provide cost where applicable for Sales Change and respond to all applicable SCRs immediately.  This will include reviewing the applicable PWO to ensure the correct cost detail is provided.
  4. Modify any BOMs as required by authorized ECRs immediately.  Communicate necessary changes with the Material Manager and plant facility management.  Changes to the BOM are necessary to make sure inventory is relieved properly.
  5. All other duties that may be required.

WEEKLY DUTIES

  1. Provide cost detail for any necessary options or projects as required.
  2. Audit one ceiling per week for foam seal usage.  Calculate the cost per LF and report results to the appropriate personnel.
  3. Attend required plant meetings (e.g. employee meetings, quality team meetings, etc.)
  4. All other duties that may be required.

MONTHLY DUTIES

  1. Audit at least one model per month - Prototypes and/or Re-Audits.
  2. Cost any necessary options that may be required for a Prototype BOM. These are sometimes required due to the urgency of developing pricing information or to set up information for purchasing.
  3. Review ECRs for start dates
  4. All other duties that may be required.

MONTH END DUTIES

  1. At month end the Plant Analyst should review the ECR file to make sure the ECRs approved for the plant during the month have been incorporated into the Bills of Material and options, when applicable.
  2. Ensure that Cost Savings are submitted monthly.
  3. All other duties that may be required.

PHYSICAL INVENTORY
It is the responsibility of the Cost Analyst to assist Materials Manager to prepare his/her plant for physical inventory, be directly involved in conducting the physical inventory and be responsible in the review and reconciliation of the physical inventory at their particular facility.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:

Language Skills, Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of peers or team members. 

Mathematical Skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
