The Home Building Group is actively searching for an Assistant Production Manager to join the team at our Nashville, NC facility.

The Assistant Production Manager is a driven individual who sharesin the full responsibility of the running of the production floor, as to ensureit is the Employer of Choice in the community.  The absolute functions for success are outlined as follows.


  • Start off each day by greeting all Team Members (TMs) by the timeclock.This is to ensure you are available for helping TMs with any issues punching in and questions they may have before starting their day.
  • Check the TM call-in voicemail and report any timeclock issues and absences to Human Resources
  • Report any attendance issues to the Production Manager immediately, along with a plan of what help will be needed to meet production schedule for the day
  • Responsible for ensuring Utility TMs are utilized in the most effective manner throughout the production day
  • Maintain the absolute of full line balance and completion points, delegating to Department Managers whenever necessary
  • Keep a watch on the gateway system to ensure it remains in proper working order, making adjustments when necessary
  • Focus on being people smart to ensure the happiness of our TMs.Spend the majority of your day on the floor engaging with them to get a true feel of their needs.
  • Be fair, firm and consistent with all TMs, treating each of them with respect during all situations
  • Become involved in all Production Floor disciplinary actions to be able to assist the Department Manager in delivering a fair and thorough discussion that results in a positive outcome
  • Identify material shortage issues, immediately contact Materials Manager to get an understanding as to why there is a shortage and an ETA on when materials will be available, note issue on material shortage sheet along with the time lost due to shortage, inform Production Manager of issue, develop a plan on how issue will be dealt with once materials arrive
  • Monitor safety, housekeeping, work pace throughout the day making adjustments with Department Managers to ensure that all completion points are met
  • Keep a pulse on overtime with a goal of zero, and if necessary be cognizant of reasons for necessity and develop a plan on what to do to get that time back during the week
  • Attend all production meetings, small group meetings, and plant meetings as necessary
  • Walk a minimum of two units a day at gateway station #8 to ensure that that the cleanliness and quality of each unit will meet or exceed our customers’ expectations, including the marrying and leveling of houses
  • Visit second Gateway at station 15 at least twice a day, ensuring the quality expectations are met for the Final Building
  • Walk line in Construction Building a minimum of three times a day and Final Building at least twice a day, keeping a pulse on any repeat issues
  • Send in monthly Lean Report before month end deadline
  • Ensure Department Managers turn in weekly Chemical Usage Reports
  • Keep the Production Manager abreast of any issues he/she needs to be aware of
  • Fill in for Production Manager for any time that he/she is not onsite
  • Verify houses scheduled for shipment have been checked the day before to ensure they leave as scheduled
