The Home Building Group is actively searching for an Architect / Developer to join the team at our Home Office in Maryville, TN.

Position Summary:

Responsible for developing new and innovative home concepts/designs that will be implemented in the Home Building Facility (H.B.F.) production process across the country. Throughout the design process, architects work collaboratively with interior designers, engineering, and H.B.F. teams to ensure all designs meeting H.B.F. and Clayton design standards. Additionally, the opportunity to be involved in all phases of projects from concept to completion. All plans must conform to HUD or MOD code requirements, manufacturing needs, and Clayton Homes drawing standards using Computer Aided Drafting (latest versions of AutoCAD).

Core Competencies Required:

  • Bachelor of Architecture
  • Understanding of architectural design standards and familiarity with related codes.
  • Strong working knowledge of the latest version(s) of AutoCAD and/or REVIT.
  • Strong understanding of the housing construction process, materials, and codes.
    - HUD Code (preferred, not required)
    - NEC
    - IRC
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Proficient using programs such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office & Adobe Acrobat Professional, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Intermediate level computer skills.
  • Attitude that reflects a sense of urgency and a commitment to service.
  • Very high attention to detail.
  • Strong space planning skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for serving our H.B.F. and developing a concept/design for floor plan, exteriors elevations, features, etc. using AutoCAD or REVIT
  • Able to communicate and collaborate with design team members (other architects, interior designers, rendering team, CAD drafters) regarding design intent to meet the needs of the H.B.F.
  • Ability to put together and present design intent packages for our H.B.F.’s. 
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with our H.B.F. production team as necessary. 
  • Strong project coordination with teams.
  • Assures that all work created is complete and accurate prior to distribution.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of current materials used by manufacturing as well as our DAPIA manuals & Modular Code Books.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Periodically follow homes during the construction process to obtain knowledge of the manufacturing processes and give assistance to the production team.
