Job Description


Pacific Northwest. Oregon, Idaho, Washington; primarily located in the Portland Area.


The Market Development Manager is responsible for the management of their personal sales functions and development of the sales in one or more plant locations.


  • Develops and evaluates performance and sales initiates initiatives.

  • Trains in selling techniques.

  • Evaluates information regarding customer purchases, inventories, preferences and market trends, and revises sales strategy as appropriate.

  • Develops sales budgets and personal margin goals for sales.

  • Revises and develops sales strategies, tactics and presentations to ensure maximum results. Develops new markets and market penetration strategies. 

  • Resolve or facilitates resolution of customer complaints. Maintains positive relationship.

  • Participates in new product development and/or new product introductions.

  • Prepares various reports and maintains records as required.

  • Vendor Managed Inventory services.

  • Performs other duties as required.


  • Problem Solving; identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.

  • Attendance/Punctuality; is consistently at work and on time.

  • Consistently open to and promotes lean management of functions/work processes.

  • Open to change/leads change development.

  • Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans; uses time efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • Education/Experience: Lumber and Building Material Industry. College education preferred.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instruction.

  • Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills required.

  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel mandatory.
