Manager of Procurement - Clayton Properties Group in Maryville, TN

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for supporting Clayton Properties Procurement (site-built home construction) efforts including contract management, identification and execution of opportunities and process creation and documentation.  Responsible for researching and identifying potential innovation opportunities and contenting (specification/option) opportunities at each division and leveraging best practices across divisions.  Works with home office and local division Procurement teams to support contract visibility, scope of work creation and maintenance as well as training.  Works collaboratively with all levels of local division and home office teams in addition to manufacturers and installers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in initial opportunity assessment including cost analysis, supply chain analysis and project feasibility 
  • Provide project implementation support including field support and training (in house and trade base as needed)
  • Document key processes for any initiatives executed on (repeatability & scalability) 
  • Assist with implementation of national agreements
  • Collaborate with all levels of local division teams, home office, and vendors 
  • Research new or existing building methodologies, manufacturers, and distribution channels that we are not currently taking advantage of for potential application 
  • Work with the Builders to determine if any new methodologies would be beneficial to them.
  • Facilitate the implementation of any new methodologies/practices that a Builder decides implement
  • Support efforts of divisions to gain additional cost and/or quantity visibility for key categories identified
  • Support the creation/maintenance of data management tools that will assist with data and analytics
  • Assist with field counts for project purposes or as requested by each division to ensure accuracy of bill of materials
  • Perform cross division analytics of costs and quantities to identify additional cost savings opportunities
  • Assist in the creation of scopes of work to support innovation efforts and vertical integration
  • Work with divisions to identify opportunities to leverage scopes of work across the enterprise
  • Collaborate with other departments and third parties to identify and implement best practices
  • Research external training opportunities or assist in the building of internal training for key areas of procurement including estimating, job costing and project management
  • Facilitate training classes at Builder locations for internal training material created and provide options for external training that is available

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management or Business-related field or equivalent years of experience. 
  • 3-5 years of procurement, purchasing or buying experience (preferably within home construction) 

SKILLS: 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word. 
  • Must have great communication skills and patience 
  • Ability to partner and lead through influence 
  • Great attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Equally success working independent and as a part of a team 
  • Motivated and self-starter.
